This is shaping up to be a banner year for lovers of ebm and industrial.
Several acts are lining up major tours, such as the mighty Skinny Puppy...
A brilliant new line up for Bruderschaft is high in the German DAC, and Apoptygma Berzerk is headed out on tour... but the biggest news for me is the music coming from bands previously thought DOA...
We're talking about new albums from Seabound and Namnambulu, and 3 albums from And One...
Expect videos from all three acts put up soon!

I could say their name over and over again....

Anamanaguchi....
Anamanaguchi....
I just love it.
Love it love it love it.
This guy I met at an open mic told me about these guys last night, and after looking them up, I knew I'd have to put them here.  I haven't heard any 8bit stuff for a while, and while technically not a true 8bit band (in fact they're very robust when you listen), they bear the same feel. Their newest album apparently started as a kickstarted, and after raising like 4xmore funding than they needed their album is fantastic. Really fun, good atmosphere. Check them out. Here's ENDLESS FANTASY.

Bob and the Log Lady meet Trent Reznor... again...

This is not the first time Trent Reznor has worked with David Lynch. Reznor was the man behind Lynch's "Lost Highway" soundtrack, most memorable for introducing Rammstein to the world, and for "The Perfect Drug," but also worthwhile for allowing people to find some great David Bowie stuff that had been obscured to most people.  Regardless, when I heard that Lynch worked on the video for the new NIN single "Came Back Haunted," I had to put it up... I especially like the warning at the beginning... so if you have seizures you may not want to watch this... and I've been told it's true of migraine as well...  the rest of you can check it out.

Tight pants…

I guess this one got away from me… found it over at music for robots… (check this blog out by the way)… I'm strapped for time, just wanted to get this on here… so….

Ok. This one's blowing up all over the place as we speak. It's been going nuts on the net since its teaser first aired on SNL a few weeks ago... of course I'm talking about the cyborgs themselves, the great Daft Punk, and their new track "Get Lucky." Whilst I'm fond of a few of the remixes, and there have been many to date already, I've got to give the original its due. Below you'll find the track in "official radio edit" form, although there have been so many fan videos and mixes on this one that I don't know if anyone knows which is "official." That said, theres a fake video for the track which is really bits of Electroma (a film Daft Punk made a while back... check out the wiki on it for some info HERE)out there with "Get Lucky" over it instead... people, this is a fake video, but in good fun, lets check out both the original "Electroma" and the fake "Get Lucky"... I like how the video changes the 'Let's party' esthetic of the song...  Check it out.

the "official" get lucky audio

Now the fake video; Electroma bits with the new track slapped over it...  I do actually kinda like it .....

Now the full version of Electroma, supposedly about sad robots or some such. Very Kubrick if you ask me.  It's long, at 70 minutes, but I'm sure some of you will really enjoy this, so watch it if you have time.

So, I was gonna post this great bit about an amazing artist I've been discovering... but wouldn't you know it, I have no time to expound...  here's something fun and random...

...and...

More of this... my apologies....(ha ha ha)

Hey, I don't think I've done 2 consecutive posts with the same artist in mind, but whatever... I'm holed up after a small medical procedure, got some pain meds, and I'm just following youtube videos from one to the other... so far today I've watched the movie "joysticks" as part of a retro 80's video game binge brought on by the dungeons and dragons module "Tomb of Horrors...". Gamers will appreciate that... The movie sucked, but brought me to some other period gems....
What does this have to do with my last post? Balls if I know, other than that I got bored and started watching a Grimes video that came up under a search for something obscure (totally can't remember now what I may have been looking for...), and at the end of that video (I'll do a post on Grimes soon enough), one of the suggestions was for the Charli xcx video "You (ha ha ha)".
Last post I had mentioned that I was gonna go over to her site, Charlixcxmusic.com, and download the free mixtapes. I did, and there are some interesting tracks there, but none I was going to post about.... This You video is the main content on her site at the moment, and I hadn't watched it the time I downloaded the mixes. I admit that it may be the painkillers, but it's been stuck in my head since I watched it a few hours ago.
This is a great track for a few reasons. First, it is so different from the other track that I had enjoyed so much... that's important because I love artists who can change their stripes fast and give us more than 1 trick.  Second, I dig the "evil offspring of the spice girls and pink" type of product Charli's selling. It kind of reminds me of the electro scene a few years back giving us greats like Robyn and Ms. Kitten, but jazzed back up again.  Third, the sound is very pop, but noisy and avant-garde and even epic all at the same time. Like a mix of Portishead, MIA, and Depeche Mode. Maybe just a sprinkling of Bjork.
Anyway, check out the video. What do you think? Semi agressive styled, strong-female, party type of music. Stylized video with a fun aesthetic. Energetic but emotive, clearly not unintelligent by nature. Personally, I would rather see more pop of this variety rather than a bunch of divas with songs featuring r&b and rap stars talking about their phones and other similar fluffy content... this has been currency in the pop world too long. I'll be mentioning the better stuff as I see it come out.
